Because Pinker hates Trump, it can seem like he's one of the good guys.

Bluesky is noticing Pinker's jerkitude lately because of Pinker's NYTimes editorial, Harvard Derangement Syndrome.First because Pinker and his right-wing friends have been attacking Harvard for ages, but now Pinker has appointed himself as champion of Harvard, because Trump is attacking it.
But in addition to Pinker's hypocrisy, there is his promotion of race pseudoscience.
He's been doing this for years, but it is noticed only rarely, since Pinker has been generally protected by his status as a "celebrity intellectual" and the press has always treated him with reverence, sometimes even writing dreamily about his twinkling blue eyes.
Jamelle Bouie of the New York Times is on Bluesky pointing out Pinker's latest episode of promoting race pseudoscience, in that Harvard editorial.
And let's not overlook Pinker's promoting the claims of behavioral genetics, which always goes so well with race pseudoscience, with the claim that "educational attainment is partially in the genes."
