EMILY WILLOUGHBY is a Board member of the International Society for Intelligence Research (ISIR). 

Recently, according to her long-time associate Jonathan Kane, she provided information to Kane which he used to make a litigation threat against the Oregon-based RationalMedia Foundation, the parent organization of RationalWiki.

Lawsuits & Secret Parties

This year, lawsuits were filed against the New Mexico-based RationalMedia Foundation (RMF), the former parent organization of RationalWiki. All of the plaintiffs were connected in one way or another to neo-Nazi Emil Kirkegaard and four of them have participated in at least one ISIR annual meeting.

RMF settled the lawsuits by agreeing to remove RationalWiki articles about the plaintiffs, along with all references to or mentions of the plaintiffs.

Then there were threats of lawsuits from secret parties. The New Mexico-based RationalMedia Foundation made agreement(s) with those parties, which resulted in at least 30 articles about individuals and even about the International Society for Intelligence Research and the publication Aporia, (owned by Kirkegaard) being censored. Once again, the censored articles were connected to Emil Kirkegaard.

Among the censored articles was the one I created about Charles Murray. I reposted the article on this blog, months ago, without a peep from Murray or his representatives since.

Censorship forever?

The lawsuits and secret parties agreements occurred at a time when the RationalMedia Foundation was attempting to move from the SLAPP-friendly state of New Mexico to the less SLAPP-friendly state of Oregon by shutting down the New Mexico organization and registering a new organization in Oregon. It completed the change in July-August 2025.

Initially there seemed to be a general understanding that once RationalMedia Foundation was reborn in Oregon, the censorship could be lifted, since the Oregon organization would not be bound by settlements made with the separate and now defunct New Mexico organization. 

The only possible hitch was that Board members from the New Mexico organization would have to resign from the Oregon organization, before the censorship could end, presumably because they would still be bound by the settlements made with the New Mexico organization.

But there seems to be some doubt about this now, which has made the people running the Oregon-based RationalMedia Foundation quick to censor and threaten to ban anybody on RationalWiki who discusses the censored topics, or the lawsuits, or the secret agreements, or even speculating on how things might be handled differently if the censorship was ever lifted.

And so RationalWiki is now at the mercy of a group of people - all or most of whom have connections to Neo-Nazi Emil Kirkegaard - who can yank RMF's chain whenever they are displeased.

And it appears that one way to yank RationalMedia Foundation's chain is via Jonathan Kane. Using his RationalWiki account, "Tetrapteryx" Kane can be seen on this RationalWiki page in September 2025,  speaking for the secret parties. He writes:

The parties to RW's settlements have seriously considered taking further legal action against RW for its hosting of these images, but they appear to have decided against it, because now that their articles are deleted RW isn't causing them a lot of harm anymore. However, if [redacted] gets Jason Wilson to publish an article attacking them over their lawsuits, there is a possibility that situation could change. The people calling for a new round attacks on the plaintiffs don't seem to have an understanding how precarious RationalWiki's situation currently is with respect to this issue, and I think their actions are extremely risky.

The images specified by Kane were a Twitter screen cap of journalist Tom Scocca highlighting Charles Murray's racism (which has been available on this blog since 2021) and another Twitter screen cap of an exchange between Pinkerite and Ben Winegard, brother of Emil Kirkegaard employee Bo Winegard. (That image has been on this blog since 2020.) The images were insignificant and no longer connected to any articles, and apparently had not yet been removed only because there was a technical glitch, but Kane made sure to use them as an excuse to yank that chain anyway. 

Jason Wilson appears to be this reporter at the Guardian, while [Redacted] refers to Oliver Smith. We'll talk about him soon. 

But how does Jonathan Kane know what the litigants are considering and deciding, and how does he know "how precarious RationalWiki's situation currently is"? 

Well as Kane tells it, he is getting his information from Emily Willoughby, board member of the ISIR:

I'm pretty sure know I more about what the litigants are up to than any other user here. I know about this because I'm close friends with a person who is involved in ISIR. I think I'm not supposed to name her, but she's a woman, which narrows down who it could be. This is public information; I've mentioned it several other times, and she and I collaborated on an anti-creationism book a few years ago.

Willoughby and Kane collaborated on an anti-creationism book published in 2017.

A RationalMedia Foundation Board member commented on the same page as Kane:

That woman was one of the 28 people who wanted to take legal action against, even though the article about her had been deleted months before...

So the article about Emily Willoughby on RationalWiki had been removed months before the lawsuits began. It's curious then, that she was involved at all in any legal actions against the RationalMedia Foundation.

How we know that Emil Kirkegaard is a neo-Nazi

It's clear that Kirkegaard is a neo-Nazi. According to the Hope not Hate exposé Race Science Inc:

• The Pioneer Fund, a Nazi-affiliated eugenics organisation —thought to be essentially defunct — has rebranded as the Human Diversity Foundation (HDF) 

[NOTE: HDF is owned by Kirkegaard and recently renamed "Polygenic Scores LLC."]

• Aporia is part of the HDF’s organisation, as is a scientific racism research team
• Andrew Conru, the multimillionaire entrepreneur who created Adult Friend Finder, has given $1.3 million to HDF. After being contacted prior to this report’s publication, he said he would cut ties with the company
• HDF has connections to Alternative für Deutschland (AfD), the far-right German party, and hopes to create a white-only ethnostate
• HDF is working to create a cult of weapons-trained activists inspired by Scientology and the Nazi SS

In addition, the Anti-Defamation League has noted the connections between Alternative für Deutschland and Nazi ideology.

In 2023 a German publication noted the connection between Kirkegaard and AfD supporter Mathilda Huss, who also appears to have a connection to Trump.

Kirkegaard was seen attending the Neo-Nazi Scandza Forum conference in 2023 with Edward Dutton and Helmut Nyborg.

Kirkegaard became the beneficiary of Nazi legacy money when he "inherited the assets of the Pioneer Fund from its former long-time president, the white nationalist Richard Lynn before he died in July 2023." 

Kirkegaard owns the pseudoscientific journal Mankind Quarterly, originally funded by Nazi sympathizer Wickcliffe Draper.

In January of 2025, Kirkegaard endorsed AfD on Twitter.

I first became aware of Kirkegaard's hatred of RationalWiki thanks to a City Journal piece written to attack a legal opponent of Kirkegaard, and endorsed by Steven Pinker and Charles Murray, called "The Cancel-Culture Troll with a Neo-Nazi Past."

The "troll" was Oliver Smith, whom Kirkegaard had sued for defamation - and lost. At the time of the article's publication, Kirkegaard owed Smith £35,972 and was in contempt of court for refusing to pay.

The City Journal article appears to be Kirkegaard's - or an ally's - attempt to conflate RationalWiki with Oliver Smith, a former RationalWiki editor.

Prior to the publication of the article in City Journal, blackmail was attempted against Smith by someone who appeared to be associated with the Substack "CancelWatch."

Smith successfully sued the Manhattan Institute for Policy Research, the parent of City Journal, to have the article removed.

Undaunted, Kirkegaard posted a video on Aporia in 2024, attacking RationalWiki as "Antifa."

Captain Occam, Ferahgo the Assassin and Deleet

Jonathan Kane, Emily Willoughby and Emil Kirkegaard are long-time contributors to wikis.

According to testimony on Twitter, Kane and Willoughby:

"...were pushing race and IQ "science" on Wikipedia for years, both being banned for doing so incessantly and deceptively." 

"I spent literal years trying to counter their wikipedia work when I was in grad school." and 

" That's also where I first met Emil Kierkegaard, he was working with them some of the time." and

"Kirkegaard's username was Deleet. Kane and Willoughby worked a good cop bad cop routine, she more or less followed the rules and stayed civil, he didn't and was banned, and when he was banned he edited from her account, and when it was discovered they shared, she was banned too."

Another Twitter account testified: 

"Like I said before, I remember her advocating that stuff on Livejournal back in the 2000s, but to see she still subscribes to it…yeesh."

Kane used the name "Captain Occam" on Wikipedia and in 2010 the Captain Occam account received a topic ban on Wikipedia over race- and intelligence-related articles and in 2018 the account was indefinitely blocked by Wikipedia.

Willoughby used the name "Ferahgo the Assassin," on Wikipedia, a name taken from one of the characters in the Redwall children's fantasy novels. The character is "an evil weasel who heads up a large band known as the Corpsemakers."

Ferahgo the Assassin can be seen promoting a claim in support of race pseudoscience for an article on race and intelligence in 2009:

After perusing this article, I've got to say that the current version looks fairly unbalanced. Ferahgo the Assassin was interaction-banned on Wikipedia over race and intelligence.

Kane and Willoughby are likely authors of an article published in 2020, "The left-wing bias of Wikipedia," for the conservative British magazine "The Critic" under the pseudonyms Shuichi Tezuka and Linda A. Ashtear. 

Tezuka published an article in 2020 in "Journal of Controversial Ideas" called Cognitive Creationism Compared to Young-Earth Creationism. The article mentions both Kane and Willoughby.

In July 2022 Tezuka published an article in Quillette called Cognitive Distortions - How the culture wars came for Wikipedia’s articles about human intelligence which mentions Ferahgo the Assassin. 

Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales called the article "silly." 

I documented Shuichi Tezuka promoting the right-wing wiki Justapedia in 2023. The "Tetrapteryx" on Justapedia is likely Jonathan Kane, since he uses "Tetrapteryx" on RationalWiki, which was confirmed by a RationalWiki moderator.

In 2018 the Southern Poverty Law Center documented the Wikipedia race pseudoscience wars and Emil Kirkegaard's role in them, writing:

Editors who attempt to insert their ideological bias but maintain the semblance of civility are given the benefit of the doubt until their disruption becomes apparent enough to warrant action by administrators. Civil POV-pushers can disrupt the editing process by engaging other users in tedious and frustrating debates or tie up administrators in endless rounds of mediation.   

Users who fall into this category include racialist academics and members of the human biodiversity, or HBD, blogging community. Often these are single-purpose accounts that exclusively edit on topics like race and intelligence, racial classification and bios of related researchers, like Linda Gottfredson or Helmuth Nyborg. Some have direct ties with racist journals or organizations, like Mankind Quarterly editor Gerhard Meisenberg. Emil Kirkegaard, who edits frequently under the username Deleet, is a research fellow at Richard Lynn’s Ulster Institute for Social research and the co-founder of the online pseudojournal OpenPsych.

Kane & Willoughby: "A Troublesome Inheritance"

In May 2014, Willoughby and Kane co-authored a review of Nicholas Wade's race pseudoscience book "A Troublesome Inheritance," a book so bad that not even Jerry Coyne liked it. It was generally trashed by reviewers. 

The first half of the review is full of regret that Wade did not write a better book in support of race pseudoscience and the second half is an attack on one of Wade's critics, using hereditarians' favorite Equalitarian bullshit.

In the review they link to that great intellectual of our time, the pseudonymous racist blogger "HBD Chick" to argue that sure, Nazis were bad, but crimes have been around since before Nazis:

The science blogger HBD Chick@ makes an important point about this idea. Genocide, racism, and xenophobia all predate human history, and it's foolish to think that beliefs about biological differences between races are to blame for these millennia-old practices. The Nazis misused race differences as an excuse for their genocide of Jews, but crimes of similar scale have been committed without any need to invoke this excuse...

And to support the notion of "public health benefits from research about the effects of race differences" they link to a New York Times op-ed, I Am a Racially Profiling Doctor, by Sally Satel. I was just talking about her last month, in the context of her contribution to the embarrassing "The War on Science" book, and her role as a Purdue Pharma shill.

Emil Kirkegaard's "OpenPsych" hereditarian hypothesis chat

In September 2014 an individual named Emily and another named Tetrapteryx can be seen participating in a discussion about the "hereditarian hypothesis" in an archive of a discussion board on Emil Kirkegaard's OpenPsych. Other participants in the discussion include John Fuerst and Emil Kirkegaard.

This discussion board Emily appears to know Steven Pinker and mentions Steven Pinker's protegé James Lee and in the last paragraph responds to Kirkegaard: 

 

...I admire your idealism, and I think the research that you, Piffer and others are doing is really important. I'd like to try and support it however I can (I would not have sent my genome and IQ scores to just anyone!), and if all I can do for now is send your research along to important people I know, then I will continue to do so.

The Piffer mentioned is likely Davide Piffer, a frequent contributor to OpenPsych, and known for at least one incredibly racist tweet.

Kirkegaard responds to Emily:

Perhaps you can convince Pinker to get others to examine the method and results. After all, they are public. Since he has a lot of influence, perhaps he can set up an academic group of anonymous scholars (so they can be honest) that can examine it.

Kirkegaard's current organization is known to have an "underground research arm" per the Hope not Hate article "Race Science Inc."

Emily Willoughby expressed her admiration for Steven Pinker in this undated Tumblr post. Pinker returned the favor in this 2024 tweet.

In the same discussion, Tetrapteryx thinks Kirkegaard and Piffer are "so idealistic."

...Part of why this bothers me is because I think you and Davide Piffer do have the potential to make a difference in this area, if you weren't so idealistic about your opposition to legacy journals. You care about both that and educating the world about psychometrics, but I don't think it's possible to pursue both goals at once without compromising the second one, and I also think the second one is more important.

Emily Willoughby's "cancellation"

In 2022, a controversy erupted over Willoughby and her connection to race pseudoscience. And around that time it was discovered that she had published an image online of two raptors in Nazi uniforms, playing chess. I have blurred the image on the tweet out of concern for copyright, although the image is available online.

On Twitter, Willoughby addressed the issue of her connection to race pseudoscience, claiming her work is on "cognitive ability and genetics" which has nothing to do with race, and references Kathryn Paige Harden as a "progressive geneticist." Harden has promoted the career of Razib Khan, and the work of Willoughby. 

And the field of behavioral genetics is full of racist connections.

Willoughby tweeted the work of Linda Gottfredson to support her views. Linda Gottfredson is a gutter racist who could be heard ranking races by intelligence with "alleged cult leader" Stefan Molyneux.

Gregory Cochran's Twitter handle is included on Willoughby's Gottfredson tweet. Cochran is a co-author, with white nationalist Henry Harpending, of Natural History of Ashkenazi Intelligence and a recipient of $600,000 dollars from Holocaust denier Ron Unz, although Unz later complained bitterly that Cochran did not respond to the grant by doing the kind of work Unz wanted. 

Willoughby appears to be friendly with Cochran, posting a link to a better image-quality version of a cartoon that Cochran shared on his blog while discussing the article he wrote for Quillette. The cartoon attacks evolutionary biologist Richard Lewontin by showing a man with a dog sled team composed of poodles. The caption reads: "Richard Lewontin creates a dog sled team to test his theory that small genetic differences are irrelevant." 

Willoughby was defended by several online individuals including Jerry Coyne and Kiwi Farms apologists Jesse Singal and Katie Herzog.

Emil Kirkegaard was not happy about Willoughby's "cancellation."

In May of this year a Dutch website published an article titled What is the relationship between intelligence research and racism? (English version via Google Translate) which includes this passage (my highlight):

In early 2018, Richard Lynn (chairman of Pioneer Fund) and Gerhard Meisenberg (chairman of Mankind Quarterly) were editors of Intelligence. After an article in The Guardian, they left the editorial board (Guardian 2018). Richard Haier, Thomas Coyle, Timothy Bates, Heiner Rindermann, and Woodley of Menie remained (Intelligence 2018). Russel Warne was a staff member for a time. The organization behind the journal, ISIR, also includes Emily Willoughby, Roberto Colom, and Guy Madison (ISIR 2025). All are sympathetic to the ideas of race science. Haier consistently defends Arthur Jensen. Timothy Bates calls ethnicity “the least socially constructed variable in social science.” Colom, Rinderman, Warne, and Madison have published in Mankind Quarterly. Woodley of Menie was expelled from the VUB after his work (“Is Homo sapiens polytypic? Human taxonomic diversity and its implications”) was cited in a terrorist manifesto. Willoughby defends Natural History of Ashkenazi Intelligence.

I haven't seen evidence of Willoughby defending Natural History of Ashkenazi Intelligence (NHAI), but she is on friendly terms with its co-author Gregory Cochran, and in their review of "A Troublesome Inheritance," she and Jonathan Kane mention Cochran twice and cite his other work (co-authored with Harpending) "The 10,000 Year Explosion."

From all appearances, Emily Willoughby has a thriving career. Since her "cancellation" in 2022:

• Willoughby has been a frequent participant in ISIR annual meetings.

• During her "cancellation" she shared on Jerry Coyne's website that for the annual ISIR meeting in 2022, when Kirkegaard was disinvited: "I WAS on the board that made the decision to redact Emil’s talk from the conference. I had no part in any sort of “private hotel room." Former neo-Nazi/Kirkegaard associate Eric Ahrens discussed that "private hotel room" recently. 

• However, Willoughby was also a Board member in 2024 when Emil Kirkegaard was seen participating in the annual meeting. Although probably not coincidentally, the ISIR did not post its annual meeting program on its website for that year, as it has done every other year since the beginning of the organization in 2000.

• In 2023, along with James Lee, Willoughby received a half a million dollars from the Institute of Mental Chronometry, an organization connected to the ISIR. This is Nazi legacy money, since the Institute of Mental Chronometry received at least $332,000 from the Pioneer Fund under its original name, "Institute for the Study of Educational Differences." (The money was given in the late 1980s, so would be worth about $800,000 today.)

• In 2024 Steven Pinker tweeted that she was a "rising star."

• Her dinosaur art was published by the Science Museum of Virginia in 2025.

• Willoughby has co-authored about twenty papers since 2022 as seen on Google Scholar. A frequent co-author is Alexandros Giannelis, mentioned in the Hope Not Hate investigative report called Superbaby Factory:

...Alexandros Giannelis, a behavioural geneticist at the University of Minnesota, is one of them. He was also described as a “one of our colleagues” by Anomaly in a call with our undercover reporter in November 2023. When the Nazi music website Midgård was hacked that same year, leaked customer data revealed that Giannelis made two purchases from its shop: Invasion, a book by Ian Stuart Donaldson, founder of the white supremacist group Blood and Honour. He also bought four Nazi propaganda posters. In an email to HOPE not hate, Giannelis confirmed that he had been a research consultant at Heliospect, and has since stepped down.

 Giannelis could be seen defending Willoughby on Twitter. 

• She sells dinosaur merch on Zazzle.

Yet in spite of all this, Willoughby managed to find the time to keep up with the secret parties who censored - and continue to censor - RationalWiki, and to share information from them with Jonathan Kane, who used that information to threaten additional litigation against the RationalMedia Foundation.

UPDATE

I posted a link from my RationalWiki user talk page to this Pinkerite blog post and immediately a RationalWiki moderator deleted the link, and then removed most of my user privileges. I asked why and was told because one of the names of a censored individual was in the link name. And then I was blocked from contributing to RationalWiki until January 6, 2026. 

Not that I had any plans to contribute, RationalWiki has been completely de-spined. It's the Gimp in Maynard and Zed's dungeon now.

UPDATE 2

I find that on RationalWiki I've been accused of lying by a RationalMedia Foundation Board member, in response to Jonathan Kane (aka "Tetraptryx.") I have scrupulously documented every single claim in this post, but since I am banned from RationalWiki, I can't respond there to the claim. 

Then someone from CancelWatch came to gloat about my ban. 

UPDATE 3

The claim was retracted, which I very much appreciate. I certainly mean no harm to the editors of RationalWiki - although I do think they need to be honest with themselves about the possibility of running a wiki that can contribute to the public good, while having their chain yanked whenever it looks like they might violate the terms of agreements made with a now-defunct organization. 

And of course I am very annoyed that my Charles Murray article was censored. To be fair other RationalWiki editors contributed so it's not exclusively mine, but in any case I think it's a good piece of work. Murray has been a public figure for decades and the article was carefully sourced and there was nothing tortious or defamatory about it.

The bad guys here are not (most of) the RationalWiki editors and RMF Board members, but the people who twisted the American legal system, via SLAPP lawsuits and threats of lawsuits, into a weapon to censor free speech.

UPDATE 4

When I asked Bongolian, one of the RationalWiki moderators why he revoked my rights, somebody else jumped in to say "you're all pathetic fascist boot-lickers" - and for that, Bongolian, without any evidence, falsely claimed that " Pinkerite has engaged in block evasion."

Of course since I'm already blocked, I have no way to defend myself there, which is just how Bongolian likes it, I suspect.

Who were the biggest racists at the 2025 annual meeting of the International Society for Intelligence Research?

Steven Pinker was not at the 2025 meeting although he's been to a few others. But he was apparently thrilled that his gutter racist chum Claire Lehmann received an award from ISIR this year. 

ISIR did not make its meeting program available on its website in 2024, unlike every other year prior, possibly because in August 2024 I created a spreadsheet to track all those who have been official participants of ISIR meetings. And without that resource, there is not much data in my database for 2024.

And I feared 2025 would be the same story since the 2025 program was not posted either.

BUT THEN! A MENSA person named Laura Endicott Thomas posted the 2025 ISIR program on the Northern New Jersey MENSA website. Thomas is a hard-core fan of race pseudoscience so I don't think she's being deliberately mean by noting the low attendance for this year's meeting. Thomas is also a Trump supporter and has a theory - a lot of Europeans did not show up because they believed the "propaganda" about Trump and his administration's utter disregard for the rule of law. 

Yeah, I had heard that MENSA people were not very impressive.

So far I've seen no evidence that neo-Nazi Emil Kirkegaard was at the 2025 meeting although he was clearly welcomed back by the ISIR organization in 2024. But several of his close allies and people he's funded were there.

Russell T. Warne's far-right and racist views are obvious from the list of work published by Warne on his own website. He is unashamed to admit he's published in Kirkegaard's neo-Nazi, racist Aporia Magazine and he's also published in Quillette and Mankind Quarterly. As the Hope Not Hate exposé about Kirkegaard noted:

A recent research paper, published in the respected scientific journal PLOS ONE and co-authored by Mankind Quarterly contributor Russell T. Warne, acknowledged that it had been funded by a grant from HDF. His paper looked to undermine the idea that African Americans suffer from “stereotype threat”, a psychological theory that negative stereotypes internalised by minority groups can damage their cognitive performance.

"HDF" stands for "Human Diversity Foundation" which was the name for Kirkegaard's neo-Nazi umbrella organization until he changed it to the more behavioral genetics-sounding "Polygenic Scores."

I was somewhat horrified to discover that Warne provides a link to an article in which he claims to be "a theatre critic and self-avowed 'Shakespeare fanboy.'" I certainly hope Warne tells the readers of his theater reviews that he is allied with - and funded by - a racist/neo-Nazi. Especially if he reviews "Othello." Oh wait, he has reviewed Othello, in 2011 - maybe that was before Warne became a dedicated gutter racist.

Naturally Kirkegaard is a fan of Warne's work, testifying on his blog in 2023: "Back in 2021, Russell Warne wrote a nice summary article about race differences in intelligence..."

Warne was also one of the censorship ghouls who SLAPP-sued Rational Wiki for telling the truth about his extremism.

At the ISIR meeting, Warne gave a talk on Rethinking Mental Speed: Unraveling the Mystery of Item Response Time. I assume that is related to Arthur Jensen's "Mental Chronometry" which was a big disappointment to race pseudoscience. But they keep trying anyway, I guess.

Warne's business account on Twitter, Riot IQ, promotes the work of evolutionary psychologist David Geary, which makes it it clear that Riot IQ's "science" is based on the joke pseudoscience of evolutionary psychology so exquisitely eviscerated by biologist P. Z. Myers in this video.

No doubt about it - by multiple metrics, Russell T. Warne is a gutter racist.

David Geary, the keynote speaker for the annual meeting, is a gutter racist, appearing on the Aporia podcast after the HOPE not Hate exposé made it crystal clear that Aporia was part of a neo-Nazi network owned by Emil Kirkegaard. Although to be fair, Geary's beat is more about misogyny just-so stories than about race. Still, he co-authored a paper with the race-obsessed twins, Ben and Bo Winegard - Bo Winegard is now one of Emil Kirkegaard's main toadies. So Geary is a definite gutter racist.

Geary's piece for the ISIR meeting was "The nurture of nature: Why sex differences are larger in healthy and wealthy nations" Looks like it's part of the ongoing hereditarian project to prove that girls are genetic losers in STEM subjects.

Michael A Woodley of Menie - unlike these other gutter racists, Woodley is the only one that I know of who has been declared outright a "racist" in the New York Times, in the article "A Racist Researcher, Exposed by a Mass Shooting." That article is about Woodley's work showing up in the racist manifesto of the anti-Black mass murderer in Buffalo New York a few years ago. 

Although as I've said many times, it's really unfair to Woodley, as the work of several ISIR meeting participants showed up in the manifesto.

Woodley has co-authored papers with so many other racists, including Kirkegaard, that I wonder if he is capable of authoring a paper with someone who is not a racist.

Woodley is one of the ghouls who used a SLAPP lawsuit to censor Rational Wiki. You can tell it was pure SLAPP intimidation since the New York Times article is at least as damning as the Rational Wiki one, but as far as I know, Woodley did not try to sue the New York Times.

Thomas R. Coyle, past president of ISIR has co-authored several papers with gutter racist Heiner Rinderman who publishes in Kirkegaard's OpenPsych pseudo-journal. According to the ISIR 2025 program "...a new open-access journal, Intelligence & Cognitive Abilities, was established by Thomas Coyle and Richard Haier to reflect the growing need for an unbiased publication platform committed to free inquiry." 

I had heard about this journal, I heard it was a response by the more racist members of the ISIR network to Intelligence magazine saying it would be less welcoming in the future to race pseudoscience. I fully expect that Coyle and Haier's new journal will publish work by Emil Kirkegaard, as Intelligence has done in the past but presumably no longer will. They've already published articles by Warne, Woodley and other racists.

Coyle teamed up with other members of the league of racist villains in a paper responding to critics of race pseudoscience. You can almost smell the burning cross coming from this list of Coyle and his co-authors Michael A Woodley of Menie, Mateo Peñaherrera-Aguirre, Aurelio-José Figueredo, Geoffrey F Miller, Noah Carl, Fróði Debes, Craig L Frisby, Federico R Leon, Guy Madison and Heiner Rindermann.

At this annual meeting Coyle chaired sessions, introduced Lehmann's speech, and was represented by a paper called "Tilt increases at higher ability levels: support for differentiation theories."

I first heard about "tilt" when I saw Lehmann and Kirkegaard having a friendly chat about it on Twitter.

In case anybody has any doubts about Lehmann's comfort with neo-Nazis.

Coyle wrote about "tilt" for Intelligence magazine, with a somewhat more vivid title:

White-Black differences in tech tilt: Support for Spearman's law and investment theories. 

There appears to be no effort in this paper to determine exactly who counts as "Black" and who counts as "White" - which is absolutely typical of race pseudoscience. 

Douglas K. Detterman was honored at the meeting for founding ISIR. Detterman is part of the old guard of racists, along with white nationalist Arthur Jensen, who is, mercifully, dead.

Detterman was the Vice President of another organization created to promote the work of Jensen, the Institute for the Study of Educational Differences, which received Nazi money via the Pioneer Fund. The institute was later renamed Institute for Mental Chronometry, which still exists, and which pays for support services for ISIR meetings and recently donated a large sum to Emily Willoughby and James Lee, board members of ISIR.

I don't think it's an exaggeration to say that Detterman worships Jensen - and because of, not in spite of his racism. On a website created by Emil Kirkegaard to honor Jensen there is an article by Detterman explaining why Jensen was right to suggest that "group differences" in intelligence testing were genetic.

Into this cauldron of social and scientific confusion, Arthur Jensen (1969) published a paper in Harvard Educational Review entitled, “How much can we boost IQ and scholastic achievement?” According to rumors, the paper was based on a talk given at a meeting of the American Association for Educational Research and editors of the Harvard Educational Review invited the paper and perhaps even sought to make it more controversial than the original submission. When the paper came to press, the results were explosive.

A brief synopsis of the paper is that this more than 120 page paper presented evidence bearing on the title question—is it possible to boost scholastic achievement and IQ through environmental intervention. Jensen's answer to the question was that it may not be possible to boost either IQ or academic achievement through environmental interventions because both have a substantial heritable component and are highly correlated with each other. Not more than a few pages of the paper dealt with race and intelligence but given the frequently observed mean IQ differences between groups, there was some inevitable discussion of these differences. The basic thesis of the majority of the paper was that it may not be possible to raise IQ and subsequent academic achievement through environmental interventions.

Jensen had hit every exposed nerve of the time and immediately became a lightning rod for those against the ideas he presented which seemed to be nearly everyone.

Heritable differences between groups were repugnant to psychological environmentalists, to communists, and to those who misinterpreted the fundamental concept of democracy that “all people are created equal” (instead of equal under the law). His thesis was also difficult to accept for those who believed that all differences between people could and should be accounted for by environmental differences.

As usual with hereditarians, Detterman misuses the term "heritable." And obviously Detterman agrees with Jensen's idiotic racist beliefs. The problem, in his mind, is all those communists who refuse to accept that some "groups" are clearly intellectually, genetically inferior. 

Detterman is predictably a big fan of indisputable gutter racist Charles Murray. In his glowing review of Murray's more recent piece of hereditarian garbage, "Human Diversity," he piously lectures those of us who are not afraid to point out that Charles Murray is a racist:

Do not engage in ad hominem attacks. Calling people racists or fascists or other nasty names does not resolve scientific debates. 

Like E. O. Wilson, Detterman would like to be seen as a genteel racist, and genteel racists are shocked by naughty words like fascist and racist. 

Something that Murray's defenders reliably fail to mention: Murray is not a life scientist, he's a political scientist. And as such, he's had a very successful career - thanks in large part to far-right reactionaries funding wingnut welfare -  convincing the stupid and the gullible that he speaks as a scientist about race, intelligence and genetics. It's fascinating that Detterman fully accepts Murray as an expert on scientific issues. But then, Detterman is a psychologist, which is only a slightly more scientific field than political science.

Detterman also signed gutter racist Linda Gottfredson's defense of the Bell Curve with dozens of other racists and assorted right-wing ghouls.

I'm certain that every one of them considers Charles Murray a better source of science information than Stephen Jay Gould, a paleontologist and evolutionary biologist, in part because they hate Gould's political views. Politics is everything to race pseudoscience.

Not only does Detterman adore Jensen, he attempted to mainstream the career of gutter racist Jean-Phillip Rushton. As Rushton testifies in his paper The Equalitarian Dogma Revisited: 

Fortunately, albeit after another lengthy review process, Douglas Detterman accepted the paper for Intelligence (Rushton, 1994), and invited me to write this editorial.

"Equalitarianism Dogma" is the term that race pseudoscience racists use to attack their critics, claiming that the only reason anybody opposes hereditarianism is because of politics, not because of science. The term was used by segregationist Henry Garrett in 1961 in Mankind Quarterly (now owned by Emil Kirkegaard) and more recently by Kirkegaard employee Bo Winegard and associates in 2023.

Here is some of what Rushton says in the editorial published by Detterman:

Evolutionary hypotheses for why Asians average the largest brains and have the most intelligence have been provided (Rushton, 1995) . The currently accepted view of human origins, the "African Eve" theory, posits a beginning in Africa some 200,000 years ago, an exodus through the Middle East with an African/non-African split about 110,000 years ago, and a Caucasoid/Mongoloid split about 40,000 years ago. Evolutionary selection pressures are different in the hot savanna where Africans evolved than in the cold arctic where Mongoloids evolved. The further north out of Africa that populations migrated, the more they encountered the cognitively demanding problems of gathering, and storing food, gaining shelter, making clothes, and raising children during prolonged winters . I proposed that as the original African populations evolved into Caucasoids and Mongoloids, they did so in the direction of larger brains, slower rates of maturation, and other traits differentiating the populations .

To further account for why Negroids are also, on average, more fertile, faster maturing, and more sexually active, I proposed a gene-based evolutionary theory familiar to population biologists as the r-K scale of reproductive strategy . At one end of this scale are r-strategies, which emphasize high reproductive rates, and, at the other, K-strategies, which emphasize high levels of parental investment (nurturing). The scale is generally used to compare different species, but I used it to describe the immensely smaller variations within the human species . I hypothesized that Mongoloid people are more K-selected than Caucasoids, who in turn are more K-selected than Negroids,

In the first paragraph, Rushton calls on the 19th-century "cold winters" fantasy, in the second, he uses E. O. Wilson's work on r/K strategies, to basically suggest that "Negroids" are a separate species from "Caucasoids" and "Mongoloids." We know he did that with the complete approval of Wilson.

But how DARE you call that racist! Quick, Detterman, the smelling salts!

Conclusion: If E. O. Wilson is a gutter racist for aiding and abetting Rushton, than Douglas K. Detterman is also a gutter racist.

Curtis Dunkel is part of Kirkegaard's network. Dunkel's contribution to the ISIR meeting is a paper, "A cross-trait analysis of the Dunning-Kruger effect" co-authored with Dimitri Van Der Linden, who has also co-authored a paper with racist extremists Edward Dutton and the mercifully dead Richard Lynn.

So those are the biggest racists of the 2025 annual meeting of the International Society for Intelligence Research. I'm sure there were plenty more at this meeting, in spite of its low attendance, but those are the names that jumped out at me. But the ISIR is never going to rid itself of racist extremists because without them and the beliefs they represent, ISIR would barely exist.

Who is a gutter racist?

There are basically two kinds of racists - the genteel and the gutter.

To illustrate the difference, let's talk about the degeneration of the career of E. O. Wilson.

Wilson began as a genteel racist. In his book Sociobiology, published in 1975, Wilson did not actually discuss racial differences. He merely suggested the possibility of human mental improvement, based on the premise that hunter-gatherer societies are shaped by evolution in the same exact way that non-human societies are, although he is careful to admit that we don't know "how much mental evolution has actually occurred:" 

There is no reason to believe that during this final sprint there has been a cessation in the evolution of either mental capacity or the predilection toward special social behaviors. The theory of population genetics and experiments on other organisms show that substantial changes can occur in the span of less than 100 generations, which for man reaches back only to the time of the Roman Empire. Two thousand generations, roughly the period since typical Homo sapiens invaded Europe, is enough time to create new species and to mold them in major ways. Although we do not know how much mental evolution has actually occurred, it would be false to assume that modern civilizations have been built entirely on capital accumulated during the long haul of the Pleistocene.

But by his next book, On Human Nature published in 1978, Wilson was making a case for the genetic passivity of Chinese and Navaho infants:

Navaho infants tested by Freedman and his coworkers were even more quiescent than the Chinese infants. When lifted erect and pulled forward they were less inclined to swing their legs in a walking motion; when put in a sitting position, their backs curved; and when placed on their stomachs, they made fewer attempts to crawl. It has been conventional to ascribe the passivity of Navaho children to the practice of cradleboarding, a device that holds the infant tightly in place on the mother's back. But Freedman suggests that the reverse may actually be true: the relative quiescence of Navaho babies, a trait that is apparent from birth onward, allows them to be carried in a confining manner. Cradleboarding represents a workable compromise between cultural invention and infant constitution.

And by a dozen years after the publication of Sociobiology, Wilson was promoting the career of gutter racist Jean-Phillippe Rushton, who would go on to become the president of the Nazi-legacy organization, the Pioneer Fund. 

As Borrello and Sepkoski wrote in the New York Review of Books shortly after Wilson died:

Rushton was arguing that “r/K selection theory” applies to different human races. This model was developed in the 1960s by Wilson and the population biologist Robert MacArthur to characterize distinct evolutionary reproductive strategies among different species of animals. It distinguishes species that produce large numbers of offspring (or those that are "r-selected") with little subsequent parental investment (for example, many insects) from those that produce few offspring (or are "K-selected") with greater parental investment (elephants, humans). Rushton’s intent was rather to demonstrate that "behavioral genetics seems to suggest that r/K relationships are heritable" among humans, and that, furthermore, different human "races" have different strategies: specifically, that Black people are r-selected, while whites are K-selected. Moreover, he carefully explained to Wilson that this model accounted for racial disparities in IQ, postulating that Black people are not selected for high intelligence because their selection strategy favors, essentially, quantity over quality.

As an author of the r/K model, one would have expected Wilson to have been outraged at Rushton’s proposal, which implied, as many nineteenth-century scientists did, that human “races” constituted different species—a view no reputable biologist, including Wilson, would have publicly defended. But Wilson immediately dashed off a letter to Rushton applauding his application of the r/K model as “one of the most original and interesting [ideas] I’ve ever encountered in psychology,” adding that the work was “courageous.” “In this country the whole issue would be clouded by personal charges of racism to the point that rational discussion would be almost impossible,” he wrote, urging Rushton to “press ahead!”

In his alliance with Rushton, E. O. Wilson became an indisputable gutter racist. 

By that measure, Steven Pinker has been a gutter racist since at least 2004, when he selected the very poor work of gutter racist Steve Sailer to include in "The Best American Science and Nature Writing" annual anthology which Pinker edited that year.

And Pinker has remained a gutter racist, and these days he even makes common cause with the neo-Nazi Emil Kirkegaard, appearing on the Kirkegaard-owned Aporia magazine podcast in June of this year. This was significant enough that establishment media, which has done its best to ignore Pinker's implicit racist views suddenly paid attention.

Basically, if you are an ally of Emil Kirkegaard, you are a gutter racist.

Who works for Emil Kirkegaard and HDF, the new Pioneer Fund?

Emil Kirkegaard  (legal name William Engman) is at the center of a network of racists and neo-Nazis called "Human Diversity Foundation" (HDF). We learned this back in October 2024 thanks to the report Race Science, Inc., by the organization Hope not Hate.

Unlike Pinkerite, which only writes about the public statements and known information about the race pseudoscience gang - see EMIL KIRKEGAARD'S RACE PSEUDOSCIENCE AND NAZI NETWORK updated - Hope not hate infiltrated HDF. They wrote:

Having met Matthew Frost at the conference in Tallinn — and hearing rumours there that the Pioneer Fund was back in action — our undercover journalist approached him with an offer to invest in Aporia. Thus began a months-long series of conversations in which our infiltrator slowly gained the trust of Frost, who then introduced him to colleagues and unwittingly exposed the structure and personnel of his secret company. What we discovered in our conversations with Matthew Frost is that Aporia is merely one part of the HDF’s much larger operation.

During the infiltration, Hope not Hate discovered the following (I added the links). 

• The Pioneer Fund, a Nazi-affiliated eugenics organisation —thought to be essentially defunct — has rebranded as the Human Diversity Foundation (HDF)

• Aporia is part of the HDF’s organisation, as is a scientific racism research team

• Andrew Conru, the multimillionaire entrepreneur who created Adult Friend Finder, has given $1.3 million to HDF. After being contacted prior to this report’s publication, he said he would cut ties with the company

• HDF has connections to Alternative für Deutschland, the far-right German party, and hopes to create a white-only ethnostate

• HDF is working to create a cult of weapons-trained activists inspired by Scientology and the Nazi SS

The infiltrator came away with an org chart, shown at the top of this post.

The Media side is led by Matthew Frost and Erik Ahrens, described as the "public-facing" side of the HDF organization.

The Research side (the “underground research arm" per Frost) is lead by Emil Kirkegaard, and in addition to employing 10 researchers and 2 developers publishes pseudoscience journals Mankind Quarterly and OpenPsyche.

According to the Hope not Hate report:

“The reason it’s an LLC,” Matthew Frost told our undercover reporter, “is because if you’re a non-profit, then that means you have to file all your internal paperwork for the nonprofit websites. And that just means a journalist will go there.” Pioneer, as a charity, had to publish its accounts and endure the ensuing negative press coverage; HDF’s leadership want to avoid making the same mistake.

According to Kirkegaard, the company’s running costs, as of November 2023, are roughly $50,000 per month. HDF has at least four full-time staff members, six part-timers and multiple researchers, contributors and developers paid on an ad-hoc basis, plus production costs and extensive travelling. In 2023, Frost, often accompanied by Erik Ahrens, made at least 13 international visits, with five cities in the US, including Seattle, San Francisco, Austin, and New York on two different occasions.

Mankind Publishing House LLC is registered in Wyoming, prompting a Wyoming newspaper the "Cowboy State Daily" to write an article about Kirkegaard called White Supremacist Who Wants Legal Child Porn Doing Business Through Wyoming LLC.  

The people mentioned in the article who appear to have worked for Emil Kirkegaard, or are currently working for him, include:

Bo Winegard - "...Bo Winegard, Aporia’s new executive editor, who, on the website, has called upon his readers to “​​embrace” white identity politics and believes racial stereotypes are “reasonably accurate”

Bryan Pesta - "a longtime recipient of Pioneer funding, has moved over to HDF. He appears in their Monday planning meetings alongside the other underground researchers."

Cremieux - real name Jordan Lasker. "An article by the pseudonymous contributor Cremieux Recueil is titled “Elites are genetically different”." 

Davide Piffer - "Davide Piffer is also part of the team. His 2013 paper on intelligence and race was cited by Payton Gendron, the terrorist who shot dead 10 Black people in a supermarket in Buffalo, New York in 2022. The gunman wrote in his manifesto that Black people have a “lesser IQ”, concluding: “We must remove blacks from our western civilizations.” In past research papers, Piffer was credited as a member of the psychology department at Ben-Gurion University in Israel, however a representative said he never completed his PhD and left after a year in undisclosed circumstances.

Members of the research team are sometimes successful in smuggling their articles into peer reviewed journals. Piffer co-wrote an article with Kirkegaard focused on IQ for the journal Twin Research and Human Genetics, published by Cambridge University Press, in March 2024. 

(Of course it's a GWAS study because behavioral genetics is an essential component of contemporary race pseudoscience.)

Diana Fleischman - "an evolutionary psychologist at the University of New Mexico, has a part-time role hosting Aporia’s podcast, and is the author of an article on the website headlined: “You’re probably a eugenicist.” She's married to racist Geoffrey F. Miller recently discussed in my series on Adam Rutherford and the racists involved in behavioral genetics.

Edward Dutton - runs the Substack The Jolly Heretic - "HDF keeps Dutton on their payroll at approximately $40,000 per year" Also "The company has also secretly employed Edward Dutton, the scientific racism YouTuber who produces content as “The Jolly Heretic”. Dutton is one of the most successful British social media influencers to focus on eugenics, having amassed 110,000 subscribers on YouTube as of October 2024. Compared to Aporia — whose founder Matthew Frost is conscious about adopting too many controversial positions — Dutton is considerably more open with his racism. A former editor-in-chief of Mankind Quarterly, he has also published a book, The Naked Classroom, which claims Black people “don’t do very well academically and don’t behave very well either”.

Eirik Garnås  - "Another article headlined “Feminism Run Amok” by the Norwegian writer Eirik Garnås claims: 'Women are still predisposed toward choosiness, pairbonding and monogamy, which are most suited to their biological needs.'"

Erik Ahrens - according to the Hope not Hate case file on HBD: "HDF has also enlisted Erik Ahrens, an Alternative für Deutschland communications worker, to expand its stable of influencers. With Frost, he has created an audiobook app called Liegent, which summarises texts by Charles Murray, Alain de Benoist, and Ted Kaczynski, the Unabomber. The aim is to give far-right content creators an advertising partner, providing them with an additional source of revenue. In return, HDF expects an element of control of their editorial output. Ahrens, who has launched a similar scheme in Germany, calls the scheme “economics as coercion”. Edward Dutton and Thomas Rowsell (AKA Survive The Jive) have promoted Liegent adverts."

Helmuth Nyborg - appeared on the Aporia podcast. Appears to be a good friend of Emil Kirkegaard.

Jared Taylor - "Frost explained to our undercover reporter in September 2023 that he would play “publication tricks”, such as his plan to host Jared Taylor to “give the fluent, well-thought-out version of his ideology”, but doing so in a debate-style format “so it doesn’t look too one-sided”. In recent months, however, Aporia has dropped its pretence of balance, as evidenced by the interview that eventually took place with Taylor in May 2024"

Joseph Bronski -  (a pseudonym) "Joseph Bronski, a member of HDF’s underground research team and Aporia contributor, has similarly written: “I think everyone has a moral obligation to improve the genome of the next generation." Bronski also published in OpenPsych.

Louise Perry - appeared on the Aporia podcast or its forerunner "Ideas Sleep Furiously"

Matthew Frost - "At the conference, our infiltrator met a man who introduced himself as Matthew Archer, although we now know his real name is Matthew Frost. Frost said he was the founder of Aporia, a website running stories on “HBD”, or human biodiversity. This is the belief that there are meaningful and measurable differences between different “races”, especially in terms of intelligence. It is, in essence, the misuse of science to promote racist ideology."

Matthew Goodwin - "...appeared on Aporia’s podcast in December 2023. Aporia’s website also recommends Goodwin’s Substack. In his Aporia interview, Goodwin discussed immigration and progressivism which is an issue where his views overlap with that of Aporia. During the interview he said 'radical progressivism represents as much of a threat to our civilization as radical Islamism.'"

Meng Hu - "A diagram shown to our undercover reporter shows that the research team has approximately 10 members. The meeting our infiltrator attended had 11 writers from the UK, the US, and Europe, including Kirkegaard. At least one contributor (Meng Hu at the University of Hong Kong) was not present." Noah Carl - "Aporia’s editor, was sacked from the University of Cambridge"

Russell T. Warne - " recent research paper, published in the respected scientific journal PLOS ONE and co-authored by Mankind Quarterly contributor Russell T. Warne" Has also published in Aporia.

Toby Young - former editor for Quillette and "The Spectator columnist and advocate of “progressive eugenics”, came on the Aporia podcast to complain that his views on genetics were unfairly considered contentious. “If you invoke genetic differences to explain any outcome discrepancy between groups, you’re in trouble,” he said. “Between racial groups, then you’re in suicide territory.”

But that doesn't cover all contributors to Aporia, who I will discuss soon.

The Hope not Hate article mentions that HDF tried to get Adam Rutherford to help legitimize Aporia. I laughed about it not too long ago, but that was before I realized how thoroughly connected Rutherford's co-authors and behavioral genetics are to the world of race pseudoscience. The Aporia ghouls probably figured Rutherford's support for behavioral genetics made him a perfect match for their organization, since the racists of the HDF attempt to use behavioral genetics to support their racist claims.
